Thinking Outside The Box With Artistic Wedding Photography

2010
08.12

Your wedding day is one of the most special, eagerly awaited days in your life; and often we spend a great deal of time and money to ensure that it is perfect in every way. Everything from the flowers to the food is given careful consideration in an effort to plan a cohesive and exciting event that is reflective of your personality. And nothing is more scrutinized than the photography – that which will be a lasting memory of your special day. Today’s sophisticated brides and grooms are looking to artistic wedding photography more and more – as a way to infuse their wedding with non-traditional style.

Artistic wedding photography is photography that is approached with more than just “stand and pose pictures” in mind. Gone is the day of formal – and often stiff – wedding photography. Today’s photographers have ushered in a growing trend wherein they bring creative expression to the age-old craft of wedding photography.

Some methods included in artistic wedding photography may include the use of non-traditional angles that you may have never associated with wedding photographs – including the use of light, color, shadow, and scale. A creative photographer can create dramatic works of art out of a single photograph and present you with a photographic result you can frame and hang in any room.

An increasingly popular style of artistic wedding photography is that of candid – or journalistic type – photography. Using this method, the photographer takes photographs of the couple and their guests when they are unaware of the picture being taken. Photographers who are adept at this have an uncanny ability to stay unnoticed and still get beautiful, engaging shots.

Artistic wedding photography may also include the use of the computer to add design elements to the photography in order to make them unique. The choices are really endless when it comes to creating photographic works of art. Working with a photographer who can best express the style that is unique to you and your wedding means finding one that works at a higher creative level than traditional wedding photographers. Luckily, most photographers host their own website where visitors can browse through their work and get a sense of their style.

Having a wedding does not mean that you are stuck with traditional vendors and formality reminiscent of your mother’s wedding. Infuse your wedding with modern sophistication by choosing artistic wedding photography. The memories will last you a lifetime.

Successul Wedding Photography Tips

This article on wedding photography tips will help alleviate any concerns you may have as that big day approaches. The use of a digital camera offers an amateur photographer a great opportunity to achieve success in wedding photography. While it is always a good idea to leave your wedding photography to a trained professional, these wedding photography tips and other resources will make the best of your big day. How often is it when your friends and family surround you in celebration?

Below are some wedding photography tips to help ensure the pictures you receive are of the highest quality and the entire event is a success.

- Understand the quality of your camera and its flash. Reread the owner’s manual and do some online research. This will make you aware of any limitations your equipment has in different lighting situations.

- Another photography tip for your wedding is to be aware of your surroundings when you are taking the photos. More often than not, amateur photographers focus completely on the subject without taking a look at the negative space behind and around the subject. Is there a lot of clutter? Is there too much activity and distraction that will be included in your picture if you snap and shoot now? Try to find a place where your subjects have calm, unobtrusive backgrounds and your wedding photographs will be filled with success.

- Another wedding tip is to be aware of the glare from eyeglasses. The glare from eyeglasses can cause a big bright spot in your photo and make your subject unrecognizable. But remember that all that is needed is a simple adjustment to your subject’s pose. Instead of removing the glasses, he or she will simply need to move their head down and to the side until the glare has subsided.

- After all the pomp and circumstance of the wedding ceremony, the reception offers a great time to capture successful wedding photographs. Think about all the great things that happen once every one loosens up, the cutting of the wedding cake, the throwing of the wedding bouquet, and the little kids all dressed up and running around make for great moments to take pictures. Of all the wedding photography tips to help guarantee success, this is a key one.

These wedding photography tips will help you achieve success the next time you are called upon to capture that lucky couple’s special day.

Different Styles of Wedding Photography

You wedding day is one of the most important milestones of your life! You spend a fortune on flowers, stationary, place cards, a gorgeous wedding dress, a make up artist and so much more. Your personality, your style, who you are goes into those details.. maybe you like elegance or maybe you like dots and stripes and lopsided cakes. Whatever, and whoever you like there is a wedding photographer out there for you. There are photographers who shoot in different styles that would do a more adequate job capturing your day the way your envision.

The most popular styles of wedding photography in today’s market are…

1. Photojournalism

Photojournalism is the art of capturing moments unobtrusively. Normally you barely know that the photographer is there. He/She normally covers weddings with large telephoto lenses (although not always) and tries not to get in the way of the story as it unfolds. They normally don’t like shooting posed family photographs or posed bride and groom photographs preferring to capture moments as they really happen. This style of photography takes mastering. The photographer needs to know their equipment extremely well and it basically needs to be an extension of their body. If you are going to hire a photojournalist make sure that they person has many years of experience as it is a difficult and artistic method of photography.

2. Illustrative

This photography is usually a creative person who loves design and elements of color and texture. This person will pose in new and different ways, maybe laying the bride on the floor or shooting from strange angles. The photography will set up fun posed shots and instead of just posing and shooting they will have the subjects interact together to capture spontaneous moments. This style of photography brings more of the photographer into the photography. This photographer’s artistic vision and use of lighting, design elements and texture is more artistic. They do not just wait for things to happen and capture them. They will often makes things happen.

3. Traditional

Although traditional photography still has it’s place in the modern photography world it is being pushed aside by more illustrative and photojournilistic styles of shooting. You see more traditional photographers that are older and have been in the industry a long time and have not changed their ways or you will see it in the lower end beginners as it is any easy style of shooting that does not take much creative input. Tradition style photography is posed and can follow a photography list. It is stiffer in it’s style and does not allow for mush spontaneity. This is sadly a dying breed. Although most photojournalists and Illustrative photographers still do some posed photography especially during the posed family shots with the bride and groom. So it still has its place.

The best photographer is a photographer that has the ability to shoot photojournilistic and can capture most of the day as quickly and masterfully as a true photojournalist but that will still give you the fun artsy look of an illustrative photographer. Someone that will prompt some fun stuff and still be able to do posed family shots for mom.

Making Money With Wedding Photography

Copyright (c) 2008 Tom Jackson

Have your friends have told you how good your photography is? Are the prints you create appreciated by friends and family? Have they have suggested that you start your own wedding photography studio? If so, you may be asking what is your next step? Well, with a little help, you can get started in your very own business.

Wedding photography can provide you with an excellent income, either full or part time. Wedding photography has been the catalyst for many of the top professional photographers. Doing it for yourself of course, means that you get to keep all the money. But, please note that as the photographer, you will often be required to act as the wedding coordinator as well, as these days, most brides cannot afford one. And if there is no wedding coordinator, then it is usually the wedding photographer who will make sure everyone is where they should be most of the time. The downloadable course is designed to help you in all aspects of the days event. As the wedding photographer, you need to make sure that the bride and groom follow your directions. Make them aware that it is in their interest to follow your directions because they want a whole lot of great looking photos for their album.

As you prepare for an event, you need to make sure that all your equipment is ready, and that you have everything you need for the days event. If possible, be sure to have a series of back-ups, a spare camera body, a spare lens and a spare flash in case any of your prime units fails. You should always be prepared so that you never haver to come up to the bride during a wedding and try to explain that you equipment just broke and you cannot take any photos. Again, a death sentence. Your back-up units do not need to be identical to your prime units, but they should be at least close to the same specs. The camera needs to be able to take images at the same resolution as your prime camera, otherwise there will be a noticeable difference in quality of the final prints. The flash unit can be a smaller unit with a slightly lower light output, but if it happens, then this unit will have to do quite a bit of work, so be careful. Make sure that the spare flash is fully charged before taking photos. I have seen a number of photographers get excited about taking some pictures at an event, and they will often just fire away, taking picture after picture, not realizing that the flash is not fully charged for each picture, and so, most of the resulting images will have serious problems, that may not be able to be recovered on the computer. So, make sure that you have good back-up equipment.

Let me ask you, are you ready to take the next step? If you love photography and working with people, the let me ask you if you are ready to start your own wedding photography business? Then you will find that the wedding photography course is designed to get you off to a great start. Everything is in this course, including all the forms you will need. Business forms are provided for you as a computer file that you can edit and personalize to give them your very own identity. This alone will help you and your business look very professional and save you a lot of time and money, so you can get bookings and start making some money with your very own wedding photography business.

How To Take Wedding Pictorials One Step Forward with Digital Photography

2010
06.24

Cameras have always been present in times of events. They can really help people keep all of their treasured memories. Of course, during weddings/nuptials the ever-reliable cameras are surely present.

It is well known that weddings are one of the wonderful events in an individual’s life. Many people wait for the day they can have a sacred union with the one that they love. And in order for them to have at least a good memory of this great event, cameras are needed.

You know, it’s amazing how far our technology has come with regards to photography. Many devices or gadgets are now being introduced in order to help people treasure special moments in their everyday lives.

There are also new cameras that are being made especially to capture the most treasured times in our everyday lives. Among these devices are digital cameras. These devices are really great for capturing happy moments during events like weddings.

Since the introduction of digital cams, they have outsold film cameras. Thus, this makes digital wedding photography a more popular service than film photography. Why?

Well, this may be because digital photography can take wedding pictorials into new heights. Cameras used for digital photography provides a lot of new advantages to their users.

One of the major advantages of these digital cameras is that they let users skip the usual film separation process, which is among the most time-consuming processes in photography. So, removing one time-consuming process would mean getting results faster, right? And when living in a fast-phase society, quick results are a must!

Another advantage of digital wedding photography is that, even though it provides fast results, the quality of each printed photo is not sacrificed. This means that no matter how fast you get your pictures, the result is still beautiful.

Another advantage of digital wedding photography is that it provides customization options to its users. This would mean that a user can edit photos even before they are printed. You can change the size, brightness, contrast or sharpness of your photo. You can even add or remove some details on your photos.

Digital photography has also integrated with cellular phones. This means that you only need to bring a phone to take pictures during weddings. Nevertheless, it is a fact professional digital cameras can provide better results than the cameras of cellular phones. Most professional digital cams have 6 mega pixels while cellular phones usually have lower mega pixel.

But perhaps the greatest advantage of digital wedding photography is the availability of your photos to be reproduced over and over again without making any variations between the first printed photo and the last photo printed. Digital photography allows users to save their files on their computers, which would mean that they can be reproduced without wearing out any film, since it doesn’t need one.

But, no matter how great a technology is, it’s still not perfect. One of the major disadvantages of digital photography is that it is not ideal for 4-color printing. Why? Well this is because of the fact that there will always be a variation between the images you will see on your pc monitor and your 4 color printed photo.

Why? Well, computer monitors use RGB, right? Four color printing uses CMYK. RGB and CMYK have entirely different outputs. So, no matter what you do, the image on your monitor will never be the same as your 4 color photos, unless there are computer monitors that also use CMYK to produce colors for the images and texts.

Nevertheless, digital wedding photography is still better than film photography and that is also a fact. See for yourself.

Wedding photography is a technique and art of recording memorable moments of events shared in marriage ceremony. When covering a Wedding Events in Los Angeles, CA, I personally study and analyze the environment in which I will be photo shooting before any wedding event date. Traditional vs Modern Wedding Photography by Babylon Wedding Center Toronto City

Traditional photography, also called classic photography involves posing for a photograph in a sit-still manner. It has been used in weddings for many years. To most people, traditional photography is an old-fashioned method of photography because the wedding pictures are not spontaneous. On the other hand, a modern photographer concentrates on producing artistic pictures where a person can freely relax. Traditional photography requires a person to set up the camera each time one wants to take a picture, which is quite tiresome and monotonous. A person should make wedding photos look artistic while covering the different wedding sessions. A traditional wedding photographer may produce pictures, which are organized photo shoots. Traditional photography bases its quality on sharpness and lighting. This makes it of poorer quality than the modern wedding photography. Modern cameras capture clearer pictures due to the improved screens. A wedding photographer who uses the traditional cameras has to focus on a still image before taking the picture.

If the image is moving, the wedding photos may produce blurred images because the cameras cannot capture moving images. Wedding pictures taken by the use of a modern camera are much clearer and the wedding camera operator does not have to wait for the couple to stand still. The modern wedding photography should appear candid because modern cameras can produce clear wedding pictures, even of a moving object. The styles expected with each type of wedding photography is quite different; traditional photography concentrates on portrait production while modern photography concentrates on producing candid images.

Mississauga wedding photographers tend to be creative based on their visual perceptions. The results usually are emotional and astounding pictures, which depict the essence of a wedding. When a person views the albums, one may feel as if they are reading a storybook as opposed to looking at pictures taken the traditional way. Graphic designs work well with modern photography due to their compatibility in terms of technological development. Mississauga wedding photographers take wedding pictures in unique venues such as beside a river or a lake to diversify the backgrounds.

A modern wedding photographer does not have any strict rules to follow because the photography solely depends on their ability to take outstanding pictorials during wedding ceremonies. The only things they have to observe include lighting, framing and the angle at which they take the pictures. Wedding photos taken in a traditional setting are suitable for instances where a person wants to pose with the bride of when a person wants the photographer to direct the entire wedding. A Mississauga wedding photographer may advise a person to have a traditional wedding photography done in cases where one intends to pose with family and friends.

One may also contact a Mississauga wedding photographer to take modern wedding pictures in cases where the bride and groom want to obtain candid pictures. Production of wedding photos, either way should portray a memorable event. Wedding pictures that are not clear may disappoint the bride and groom. Overall, the couple should decide whether they want traditional or modern photography. A good wedding photographer will be able to turn the event into a memorable occasion either way.

How to Find the Perfect Photographer For Your Beach Wedding Photography?

2010
05.19

Having a beach wedding makes everybody feel more casual, yourself, your guest and even the people you hire to do the catering or the photography. Everybody is just less restraint then they would be at a formal wedding. It is a perfect way to bring back some of the fun into a wedding, because sometimes it feels like weddings are done just to confirm to the expectations of how it’s supposed to be.

The right person for the job

You need to make your wedding day the most perfect day of your life and for that you need to hire the right people. For beach wedding photography the photographer needs an other view then a formal wedding photographer. He or she also needs to feel the casual feeling and enjoy the unpredictable nature of outdoor weddings. For beach wedding photography a photographer needs to be a bit more flexible and adventurous than the regular type of wedding photographer. But how do you find the photographer with the right skills?

Beach Wedding Photography Portfolio

Most professional photographers have some sort of portfolio, many even have their portfolio online these days. This is a good way to make your first selection of photographers. Beach photos are a great way to see the romantic or adventurous sides of the photographers view. And the photographer with shots of the beach under different circumstances is usually the best. On a sunny day, with a clear blue sky, the circumstances are ideal but when he or she is also able to create great pictures on a cloudy day, with wind and gray sky that shows the real professional.

Preserve Your Memories With Proper Beach Wedding Photography

As you have read above, with beach wedding photography, it is important that you hire a proper professional photographer to capture those relaxed, fun and carefree moments that you can expect with a beach wedding. It is his job to make sure you don’t have to be restrained to traditional formal wedding shots and that he can explore ways to make the guest have the same impression.

It is not true that you have a better chance to find a photographer in towns that have a beach nearby but it is worth the trouble to take a look at some of there websites. You do need to make sure that the beach wedding photography is a perfect reflection of your memories of that important day.

Extra fee for beach wedding photography?

Beach wedding photography does not need to cost more then formal wedding photography. You just need a photographer who is experienced in and enjoys outdoor photography. If you need to make some budget cuts, we advise you to read about wedding photography packages at our website.

The calming effect of beach wedding photography

A beach wedding is meant to get you in your natural element, and this also makes you look more natural in the pictures. The sea is known for its effect to calm your anxious nerves. And that is probably why the pictures taken with beach wedding photography are so successful.

Wedding Photography Prices Guide ? How to Set Your Photography Budget

2010
04.20

How much does professional photography cost for your wedding? Learn how to set a realistic photography budget with this guide to wedding photography prices and rates.

The Going Rate for Professional Photography

When determining your wedding photography budget, keep in mind that you get what you pay for. You should expect to spend at least $1000 on having a professional wedding photographer document your wedding (not including the actual prints and other extras). Rates, of course, will vary depending on skill level, experience and geographic region (metro areas are usually considerably higher). The size of your wedding can also affect the photography cost, as additional guests may increase the amount of time that the photographer must spend at your event. For instance, for an event of less than 100 guests, a wedding photographer will typically dedicate four-six hours of time. For a larger wedding of 300 or more guests, a photographer may have to spend eight-ten hours on the job.

Comparing Photographer Rates

Most wedding photographers will give general pricing information over the phone or on their websites, so you can use an initial online search or phone call as your first step towards finding a photographer that suits your budget. In comparing photography costs, remember that different photographers offer different packages – so initial rates can be misleading. Some rates only include the photographer’s time, while prints and albums are extra. Other photography packages may include proofs, a set number of prints and an album. Determine what services and options you want first, then compare photographers’ rates for providing those specific options to determine which professional works within your wedding photography budget. This article offers even more tips on comparing professional photography services.

Creative Ways to Save on Wedding Photography Prices

If you simply must have a certain photographer who commands higher rates, consider these ways to save on your photography budget:

Buy a more basic wedding photography package with less prints and albums

Negotiate and switch out an engagement portrait for an additional parent’s album

Get even more ways to save on wedding photography prices.

Photography Contract Points

When reviewing your contract with a potential photographer, make sure that it is specifically clear in what it covers. Consider these questions:

Do you need to make a deposit?

What is the cancellation policy? Will you get anything back?

Is any travel time considered an extra or included in the bill?

Are you entitled to final prints only, or can you obtain all of the proofs?

Now that you’re an expert on photography costs and budgeting skills, this complete guide to wedding photography will take you the rest of the way towards hiring and working with a photographer and planning your wedding day shots.
